Q. Write a letter to the Editor of a Newspaper complaining about the condition of roads in your locality. Mention the points in your letter: 1. Pits on the road, 1. Reckless Driving, 3. Frequent Accidents, 4. Steps to be taken

Subject – Bad Condition of Roads and Reckless Driving

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I venture to voice my views about the bad condition of the roads in our locality.

The condition of Beleghata Main Road from CIT crossing to Joramandir is worsening with every passing day. The stones are jutting out from the patchwork on the road. The buses, lorries, taxies, and mini-buses run here at a break-neck speed causing terror to the passers-by. Hardly a day passes without a serious accident. The death toll is increasing day by day because of the bad condition of the road and reckless driving.

Hence, the government should immediately take necessary steps to repair the road and to prevent reckless driving. Public opinion should also be formed through your editorial column.

Yours faithfully,
Tapas Mandal

Q. Write a letter to the Editor of a Newspaper complaining about the problem caused by the hawkers on the pavement. Deal with the points in your letter. 1. Tax-free and rent-free stalls, 2. Obstruction to the movement of the passers-by, 3. Traffic jams and accidents, 4. Steps to be taken

Subject – Problem Caused by the Pavement Hawkers

Sir,

I could not but express my views on the problem, caused by the pavement hawkers through the columns of your esteemed daily.

The encroachment of the pavements by the hawkers poses severe problems for the passers-by. The hawkers use the pavement as tax-free and rent-free open spaces for their stalls. These stalls obstruct the free movement of the passers-by as they have narrowed down the space of pavement. The pedestrians are sometimes compelled to walk on the road instead of the pavement. As a result, the roads become crowded causing accidents and traffic jams. It has become a nuisance to public life and this must be stopped at any cost.

However, I expect the government to set up a Hawkers’ Corner so that the hawkers are not thrown out of employment.

Q. Write a letter to the Editor of a Newspaper complaining of the problem of the traffic jam. Mention the points in your letter. 1. Completion of the Circular and the Metro Railways, 2. Withdrawal of the slow-moving vehicles, 3. Strict enforcement of traffic rules

The Editor

Subject – Problem of Traffic Jam in the City

Sir,

We have been hearing from time to time about several schemes to improve the transport system of the city. Yet, so far there has been no considerable improvement.

The authorities should take immediate steps to complete the Circular Rail and extend the Metro Railways up to Garia. It is also necessary to withdraw the slow-moving vehicles from the busiest parts of the city. However, improved traffic situation alone cannot solve this problem. Long processions on the roads during office hours should also be controlled. Moreover, there should be strict enforcement of traffic rules with severe penal measures for the law-breakers.

I wonder if the authorities are really sincere to improve the condition of the traffic system.

Q. Write a letter to the Editor of a Newspaper complaining of the Scarcity of milk supply in your area. Use the points in your letter. 1. Only one milk supply center in the locality, 2. Population Explosion, 3. No fresh card issued, 4. Irregular Supply

Subject- Scarcity of Milk Supply in our Area

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I beg to express my views on the scarcity of milk supply in our area.

There is only one milk supply center in and around our locality, Nebutola, under the government milk distribution scheme. The population has increased considerably in this locality in recent years but no fresh card has been issued for ensuring the supply of milk. Even the cardholders do not get their allotted milk regularly.

Under these circumstances, the authorities should take necessary steps to issue fresh cards and to ensure a regular supply of milk from the milk depot.

Yours faithfully,
Kamal Pal

Q. Write a letter to the Editor of a Newspaper complaining of the ever-increasing price of essential commodities. Mention the points. 1. Suffering of the lower class and middle-class people, 2. Suffering from the Salaried people, 3. Price of rice, clothes, medicine, vegetables, milk, fish, and meat, especially onion, and mustard oil increasing.

Subject – Ever-increasing Price of Essential Commodities

Sir,

The ever-increasing price of essential commodities has left me with no option but to express my views through the columns of your widely circulated daily.

I believe that the recent price rise is a headache for most people and it is now gradually becoming impossible for them to make both ends meet. It has hit the day- laborers, lower and middle-class people severely and the fixed salaried people hopelessly. Not to speak of meat or fish, even the price of vegetables including onion is increasing every day. The prices of rice, milk, clothes, mustard oil, medicine, and other essential commodities are also rising by leaps and bounds. In most cases, hoarding and black-marketing are responsible for creating such a situation. All these have made the life of the common people miserable.

It is high time that the government undertakes effective steps in order to control the increasing prices of essential commodities.

Yours faithfully,
Kamal Pan
