The primary reason people consume junk foods and other unhealthy food items is solely for taste. They disregard the importance of nourishing their bodies with a proper diet due to time constraints.

However, it is crucial for individuals to recognize the significance of maintaining a healthy body, as a healthy balanced diet not only reduces stress levels but also promotes a life free from ailments.

A balanced diet is characterized by containing all the necessary nutrients in the appropriate quantities. Therefore, it is essential to consume a variety of foods that provide essential nutrients such as liquids, sufficient proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and calories.

To maintain a healthy body, it is important to consume fresh fruits, salads, green leafy vegetables, milk, eggs, yogurt, and other nutritious foods punctually. Green vegetables and most fruits are excellent sources of minerals, primarily iron, calcium, sodium, potassium, and small amounts of iodine and copper.

Similarly, vitamins come in various forms, including A, B, C, and D, among others. Fish oil, butter, carrots, and papayas are rich in Vitamin A, while green leafy vegetables and wheat grains are abundant in Vitamin B. Vitamin C can be obtained from sources such as green chilies, green vegetables, amla (Indian gooseberry), lemons, and citrus fruits.

Vitamin D, on the other hand, can be acquired from cod liver oil, butter, and exposure to sunlight. Additionally, vitamins E and K are also vital for our well-being. It is worth noting that milk, with its comprehensive nutritional profile, can be considered a complete and balanced diet in itself.

Meats, poultry, and fish are sources of animal protein, while the white of an egg also contains protein. Milk, cheese, curd, pulses, soybean, and dry fruits are other examples of foods that provide a different type of protein. Fat can be found in butter, pork, coconut, all edible oils, cod liver oil, and the yolk of an egg.

To maintain a healthy body, it is important to consume fresh, well-washed, and well-cooked food that is free from dust and flies. Harmful foods include fried foods and those that are high in fat, spices, and chilies. It is advisable to avoid eating food from roadside vendors. Additionally, the last meal should be consumed two or three hours before going to bed, and there should be a sufficient time gap between meals to allow for proper digestion in the stomach.

In addition to a healthy balanced diet, a healthy body requires daily physical activities, adequate rest and sleep, cleanliness, a healthy environment, fresh air, water, and personal hygiene. It is also recommended to drink a sufficient amount of water, at least 7-8 glasses, as it helps maintain blood pressure and facilitates the efficient supply of vital nutrients to the body. A fit and healthy individual demonstrates increased resistance to infections and diseases.

While wealth holds its own importance, it does not outweigh the significance of health. Spending large amounts of money on junk food at five-star hotels or other forms of entertainment, such as watching films, only brings self-satisfaction without any tangible benefits.

Physical and mental well-being not only contribute to an individual’s social and financial health but also enhance their activity, liveliness, and energy levels, enabling them to work efficiently. Conversely, a wealthy but unhealthy person easily becomes fatigued and eventually loses the true wealth of life, which is good health.
