We live in a materialistic or utilitarian era where nothing is considered right unless it pays or is useful in some way. We never think that we have a mind or spirit within our mortal body, something that demands something higher. And that something higher is a spiritual and intellectual joy and satisfaction that cannot be easily explained.

Of course, I belong to the second-class elite. In my spare time, I made a point of reading and reading it. I read a lot, but I’m not a bookworm. I mean, I don’t read just for exams or for profit.

Narayan’s ‘The Guide’ Raja Rao’s ‘Kanthapura’, Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea”, and Mulak Raj Anand’s ‘Coolie’ and ‘Untouchable’.

I also read some of William Shakespeare’s plays and Francis Bacon’s essays. I also read some humorous literature produced by P.C. Wodehouse and Jerome K. Jerome. I feel very happy while reading books. And lastly, I read newspapers and some magazines regularly.
