Last month I and some of my friends went to Murshidabad, the capital of Bengal during the Nawab regime. On 2nd November, in the evening, we left for Murshidabad. The next morning we reached Murshidabad. After resting for a while, we started visiting the historical sights – first, we visited Khosbagh where Alibardi and Sirajudaullah lie in eternal sleep.

From Khosbag we went to Motijheel to see the ruins of Ghoseti Begum’s building. Next, we saw Hazarduari, a majestic palace with a thousand doors. It is simultaneously an art gallery, museum, library and armoury. We saw there many famous pictures, the court of Nawabs, many mummies of birds and many valuable manuscripts in the Persian language. Finally, we visited the Katra Mosque. The visit to Murshidabad left a sad impression on my mind. It opened my eyes to the variability of earthly things.

Last Sunday I went to Murshidabad, the capital of Bengal during the Nawab period. My parents, sister and friends were with me. We travelled by car. We left early in the morning and arrived around noon. Our journey was enjoyable. Golden rice swaying in the wind and village people bathing in the pond caught our eye. We reached around 4 pm.

After resting for a while, we started visiting the historical sights, we first visited Hazarduari, a royal palace with a thousand doors. It is a beautiful palace with many real and some false doors. We saw many famous pictures, the court of Nawabs, valuable manuscripts in Persian etc. there. Then we visited the Katra Mosque. It is in ruins. Only the lower portions of the two sky-kissing towers have survived the onslaught of time.

Then I went to Motijheel Palace. Here unfortunately the conspiracy to defeat Siraj took place. Then we visited Jagat Seth’s house, Lalgola, Imambara, and of course other historical houses in Murshidabad.

Finally, we visit Khasbagh where Alibardi and Sirajudaullah died in eternal sleep. This visit left an impression on us about this great historical place of Bengal and the last independent ruler of Bengal, Siraj-ud-Daullah. The visit to Murshidabad left a sad impression on my mind.
